This closure includes all departments except for the Russell Municipal Airport, Public Transit Bus, public parks, and the municipal golf course, which will remain open until further notice.   The clubhouse at the municipal golf course is limited to occupancy of no more than ten (10) people at one time. The public transit bus is limited to taking passengers to and from Russell Regional Hospital, doctor’s offices, grocery stores, and places of employment. The City of Russell will continue to provide essential services to the community.

Customers and the public will need to utilize the City’s online resources at or call 785.483.6311 to make utility payments, apply for permits, and communicate with city staff.   City Council meetings will proceed as planned.

If you are asked to wear a mask, please do so in order to protect both yourself and other patients.   If you are coming to the clinic for routine lab work, please call the clinic before your arrival.    If you feel as if you have symptoms of the coronavirus and plan to be seen at the clinic or in the Hoisington ER, please call us before your arrival so we can prepare.

Russell County Offices and Departments

Offices and departments CLOSED to the public. Russell County personnel will continue to work in their respective office and will be available by phone, fax, or email. There is a drop box available on the North-West comer of the Russell County Courthouse where items can be dropped off or payments made to any Russell County Department. Someone will make sure it gets to the right department. If you have any questions, please call the respective office. The Russell County Landfill will remain open at this time. The Russell County Health Department will remain open with limited services, but asks that persons call the office before coming in. The Russell County Sheriffs Office will remain open, but will be limiting non-essential services and will no longer allow inmate visitation.

To protect our residents and patients we strongly encourage you to not visit the facility at this time. Russell Regional Hospital has implemented a “No Public/Visitor Access”, which includes family members, effective March 15th, 2020, until further notice. Very rare exceptions may be made in extenuating circumstances for family and visitors. Those individuals will be screened prior to entry. Public access to the cafeteria has also been suspended until further notice. This restriction does not include the Meals on Wheels service.   Patients who are scheduled for medical care will continue to access Russell Regional Hospital through the main entrance and are encouraged to keep appointments unless they are sick or exhibiting respiratory or flu like symptoms as noted on the website. Patients who have questions or concerns should contact the department performing the test or procedure.

The Department of Education announced:

that it will allow forbearance on federally-backed student loans for sixty days beginning on March 13, 2020. Likewise, the Administration has also waived all interest on student loans for this period. You must contact your loan servicer to begin a forbearance.
